Common Questions

  • Can remote therapy benefit me?
Remote therapy often removes barriers to care. For example, some clients’ busy work and home lives would interfere with getting in person care. For others, remote therapy is simply a matter of preference. Many clients choose video sessions over in person care, and these clients often report success when it comes to meeting their individualized goals. These clients typically report strong rapport with their telehealth providers. Other clients choose to go to the brick-and-mortar counseling center. For these clients, they experience a greater connection by being in the same physical space as their therapists.
  • How long and how often do I attend therapy?
Your needs and goals will largely determine the length of treatment. Most of my clients are seen for 6-9 months, although some clients are ready to complete care after 3 months and others are in need of continued professional support after 12 months of care. When starting care, we will work together to determine the appropriate frequency. Many clients will start off with weekly sessions, although some clients will need more or less frequent visits. During the course of therapy, frequency will be revisited.
  • What about fees for services?
I am paneled with Aetna, Oscar Health, United Healthcare, and Oxford. I use Headway for the submission of claims, and Headway collects all payments from clients. Prior to the first session, the client is fully aware of any out-of-pocket expenses for each session when using insurance. For self pay clients, individual clients and couple clients are seen for an initial 45 to 60 minute intake session and are charged at the rate of $200.00 per intake session. For follow up sessions, individual clients are typically seen for 45 minutes, and these sessions are charged at a rate of $200.00 per session. When it is clinically appropriate, individual clients can be seen for extended sessions, and these sessions are charged at a rate of $250.00 per session. The typical session time for couple clients is 45-55 minutes, and these sessions are charged at the rate of $250.00 per session. I use Ivy Pay for self pay individual and couples clients. Some self pay clients might have OON benefits and are encouraged to check with their insurance plans if they may be eligible for partial reimbursement. I offer a limited number of sliding scale and pro bono sessions.
